The SIET was constituted under the Travancore Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Act 1955 on 08.09.1999 as an autonomous society. The Institute, ever since its inception has been adopting itself to play a prime role in fostering as well as supporting and supplementing the educational movement in the state particularly in the arena of Primary education . Its area of operation covers the preparation of video/audio programmes for the children of 5 to 17 years of age and the teachers in the regional language in the form of supportive factor for the conventional class room teaching. The Educational programmes produced by the SIET have won wide acclaim and appreciation from the student-teacher-parent community of the Kerala State. At present the SIET telecasts Educational programmes through Doordarshan from 6.30 AM to 7 AM and 5.30 pm to 6 pm on DDI on a daily basis. These programmes are targeted at over 5 million students in Kerala. The SIET has been developing digital content with the prime intention of initiating our children into E-learning system that is currently being implemented across the state. As part of activities, SIET, Kerala, has been organizing All Kerala Children’s Educational Film Festival every year. SIET has been conducting workshop on various fields of Educational Technology for teachers through ET Clubs. SIET is conducting Workshops for students on New Technologies like Nano Technology, AI, Bio Informatics, Visual Technology etc. The prime goal of SIET, Kerala is an action-plan that is effective to the betterment of the next generation.
Immediately after the announcement of complete Lockdown, State institute of Educational Technology (SIET), analyzed the situation and formulated strategies to continue academic activities with the help of technology.

1. Digital Content Project on Digital Content Development based on the revised curriculum for the classes from 1st to 9th standard. i. Videos and Animations ii. Videos for Doordarshan slot iii. Audio Content Objectives :- (a) Making teaching learning process more effective through multimedia content. (b) Effective use of mass media for school education. (c) Ensuring the participation of teaching community in developing digital content. (d) Giving Conceptional clarity to the students through digital content. Learning will be easier and attractive to the students by presenting the subjects by way of essential videos and animations, and slots in visual media. Audio content is mainly intended for the Visually Challenged Students. Audio is the most convenient resource for students. Listening to audio is one of the best ways to help the children to improve their studies. It is designed in such a way that the same could be useful to all students.
